The inaugural Palm Beach Women’s International Film Festival will open with The Whistle Blower, Best Feature Film winner at Palm Springs International Film Festival, directed by female director Larysa Kondracki, starring Vanessa Redgrave and Rachel Rachel Weisz. The festival will wrap with the zany comedy Leading Ladies. The full line-up of films either produced or directed by women will run April 7 – 10 and includes 10 world premieres, seven US premieres, and six East Coast Premieres. Films from 15 countries including Austria, Australia, Canada, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Spain, Sweden, Tanzania, Venezuela and the US are represented.
Sharon Gless (Cagney and Lacey, Queer as Folk), producer and actress of Hannah Free, will make a special appearance at the screening of the film on Saturday, April 8 at 7 pm at the Compass Community Center, followed by a party in Gless’s honor at the Cottage in Lake Worth.

Additional Saturday events include a special program on Animated Films, featuring the top female college animators in the country, and a panel of expert animators lead by animation and art professor Amy Berkowitz, (Miami International University of Art and Design and Boca Raton Museum of Art.) On Saturday, a breakfast with the filmmakers and the Young Women’s Film Competition and Awards Presentation will be held. (Young Women finalists will be announced by March 10).

More highlights include the US Premiere of Finding Kind, a documentary about the “mean girl” phenomenon, which has been covered extensively in national news. The film will screen on Sunday, April 10 at Muvico in Cityplace, followed by a panel on school bullying from leading area experts including the School District of Palm Beach County and the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida.

Other highlights include the East Coast Premiere of Atlantic Crossing: A Robots Daring Mission, the story of scientists led by world-renown oceanographer Scott Glen who make history by successfully navigating the first autonomous underwater robot across the Atlantic Ocean. Additionally, a showing of films speaking to Gay and Lesbian themes will be presented by Compass at the Lake Worth Playhouse Stonzek Theatre.

“The artistic integrity of the international films we are presenting will put this festival on the map not only in Palm Beach County, but throughout the world,” said PJ Layng, PBWIFF Co-Director. “While all of the films are made by women, they have mass appeal to all audiences; some will make you laugh, some cry, while others will educate and fascinate,” added Layng.

The festival will screen at Muvico Parsian at CityPlace, Lake Worth Playhouse Stonzek Theatre and PGA Cinemax in Palm Beach Gardens. The festival opens on Thursday, April 7 at 7 pm at Muvcio with The Whistleblower, directed and written by female newcomer Larysa Kondracki. Ms. Kondracki will be in attendance and conduct a post-film Q&A, immediately followed by a glamorous rooftop party at Roxy’s Skybar on Clematis Street. Tickets are $50 for both film and party and include complimentary trolley transportation by the West Palm Beach DDA, complimentary food and two cocktails per person.

Take a computer class, learn from your kids, or learn from your grandchildren, but start as soon as possible. Perhaps, your grandchild can earn some money teaching you how to make even more money.

Most of the local business owners, who I know, still don’t have a web presence -for a combination of reasons. Many business owners are from my age group and don’t feel comfortable setting up a website. So, they pay somebody else to do it or it never gets done. There are a multitude of reasons to avoid launching your business on the web, and all of them are “lame excuses.”

As I travel around town, I get to hear all the excuses. “I’m too old,” “Our business isn’t the Internet type,” and “I don’t know HTML.” You can tell everybody else those excuses, but do you want to grow your business or not? The vast majority of small
businesses fail, and the Internet is the cheapest form of advertising available.

If haven’t launched a website or Blog, you are delaying business marketing progress for nothing. Take a computer class, learn from your kids, or learn from your grandchildren, but start as soon as possible. Perhaps, your grandchild can earn some money teaching you how to make even more money.

Blogs are easy to start with, since you don’t need to have any HTML knowledge. You can also go to Blogger, and get a free Blog. It might take you 10 to 15 minutes to set up and start posting information right away.

Some website hosts work like that too, but let’s assume you have a site of some kind. Did you know your website host might have a Blog feature built in, at no extra charge? If you have this feature, you can easily build a commercial Blog.

For a small business, with a website and commercial Blog, you should be able to establish your natural search engine rankings. Sometimes, these are called “organic rankings” and you don’t have to pay a penny for them. It may take a few months or more to establish yourself, and you should make regular posts.

For optimum results, your regular posts can be daily, a few times per week, or once a week. More postings are much better and will have significant impact on your rankings. Search engines love frequent posts, such as those found in Blogs.

Instead of worrying about Google algorithms, and SEO(search engine optimization) theories, go back to the basics and boost your rankings with content. Most of us have heard, “Content is King,” and it is totally true.

So what do you say about your business? Tell your established customers and prospects about your service and products. Explain what your unique selling proposition (USP) is. This is what makes you different from similar businesses in your town.

When you have new products, or are looking for feedback about new product development, a Blog is extremely useful. Your customers and prospects can leave you feedback, so marketing research is very easy.

Lastly, don’t shy away from a “gold mine.” Free advertising is too valuable to ignore. Blogs are the advertising bargain of the decade and possibly, of the 21st century.

A lot of web pages will find an SEO sitemap useful in improving their performance. SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization”, the process that aims to create or revise Internet sites so that it can be better found by search engines. The objective of SEO campaigns is to have websites appear in the top listing or first results page of search engines.

Internet search engines, such as Google and A9, maintain a very large database of Web pages and available files. To do this, they devise a program called a web crawler, or spider. This software automatically and continuously surfs and hunts content in the Web. Pages that the spider finds are retrieved and indexed according to text content, giving more weight to titles and paragraph headers. Spiders never stop navigating the web from page to page, to index the relevant content of the Internet. Besides looking at the text of titles and headers, some programs are able to identify default tags and keep a library of these page keywords or key phrases in the index.

When a user connects to the Internet types a query, which is automatically interpreted as keywords, the search engine scans the saved index and creates a list of web pages that is most appropriate to what the user is searching for.

SEO will use all the combined techniques of keyword analysis, smart code, good content literature, link popularity study and website organization to place the subject web page as high as possible in the list of search results in search engines. Web pages displayed on the top of results pages are assumed to get the most attention, and therefore, opportunity for earnings for web businesses and pages with sponsor links.

Search engines usually return a list of results ranking pages according to the number of Internet sites linked to them. Results can be classified as organic, or sponsored links. Sponsored links are shown prominently because their creators or agents paid the search engine. Sponsored links are the main source of income of search engines. “Organic” search results are the lists of actual results from the engines index and are directly related to the keyword typed in the request.
One of the more effective techniques of SEO is the creation of a well-organized site map in a website. Since the site’s main page and other content are directly linked to a site map, spiders can more easily move through the website, identify the key words of the content, and index these for a search engine. This is where the SEO sitemap helps the website creator or administrator.

Site maps are usually pages filled with links. These are shown as tables or lists, although lists are generally more effective. Writing code for SEO sitemaps is very easy and simple to format and maintain. These are ideally basic HTML pages with default tags, logical titles and keywords scattered in the Meta description. Introduction areas can contain more of the keywords. The site should have a main heading for every directory.

A simple list layout helps reduce unnecessary tags that might “hide” your keywords. Some spiders give more weight to the following, than text in the normal body of the webpage: heading text, content within link elements, text nearer the top of the page and the text written for a link. Therefore, writing the keywords and links in these areas could somehow move up the web page’s ranking. This goes for SEO sitemaps as well.

Web sites should be designed consistently, so navigation models should follow the flow of the site map. Therefore, the first section in the site map should be the first link in the navigation bar.

In an SEO Sitemap, and most pages, the headings contain title attributes where more key phrases in the site map can be added. Keywords are generally well chosen and written in the body of a webpage. However, in an SEO site map with little text, key words should be added as much as possible. As much as possible, web links should follow web page titles, and must undergo SEO during coding. Care must be exercised not to cram the page with keywords and links, or the page will be interpreted as blatant spamming and not receive any traffic at all.

There is no way to guarantee that a website will be shown in the topmost ranking of “organic” search results for an extended period of time. However, smart and responsible SEO sitemap techniques can be used to place the website high up in the search position. Regular monitoring and adjustment of the SEO Sitemap and search results would ensure that a website is kept near the top ranking and receiving lots of web user traffic.

1. Find a topic you can create a two part article on. Write part one of your article and place it on a page on your website. Place Google Adsense ads next to your article. Next you will want to create part two of your article and make sure to make reference to your first article in your second article. Take part two of your article and submit it to ezine publishers, and article directories.

Using this technique, part two of your article will drive traffic to part one of your article. In this way you will profit when someone clicks on your Google Adsense ads when visiting the web page that you have part one of your article on.

2. Create a site that is related to your market that has nothing on it but good quality content about a popular topic in your market. Make sure that you place Google Adsense ads on the site also. You’ll then offer ezine publishers and ad on one of the pages of your site if they’ll mention your site to their subscribers. Make sure they know they’ll benefit by other ezines publishers sending traffic to your site. Their subscribers will be exposed to those ads also. You’ll profit from the earnings you earn by people clicking on your Google Adsense ads.

This technique is profitable for everyone involved. I haven’t seen anyone using it so be a pioneer and watch this technique explode your Google Adsense income!

3. Find a profitable topic and create a 5-10 website about the topic. Make sure to place Google Adsense ads on your website along with the content. Next you will want to create a mini-ebook or report about the topic, and include affiliate links for products and services related to your topic. Take your mini-ebook or report and give it to website owners and ezine publishers who can reach your target market. Allow them to brand the affiliate links in your mini-ebook or report with their own affiliate links. Within your mini-ebook or report, you’ll want to make many references to the website you created for this topic that have your Google Adsense ads on it. Whoever passes this mini-ebook or report around will be driving traffic to your site, and you’ll profit from those that click on your Google Adsense ads.

This technique uses viral marketing which in my opinion is one of the most powerful marketing techniques around. You can get some added exposure by submitting your ebook to ebook directories. Do a search to find ebook directories.

4. Take a couple of articles that you have written, and upload them to your website. Make sure to place your Google Adsense code next to your article. Now take the URL of your articles and place the URL in your signature line in your email or forum signature line.

With this one easy technique, I’ve made up to $46 a day for spending a few minutes putting the URLs into my signature line.

5. Create a mini ecourse on a topic that you know about or do research on a popular topic and create a mini course for it. Take each day of your course and place it on it’s own website. Day one will have it’s own page. Day two will have it’s own page, and so on. Make sure you place Google Adsense ads on each of these pages also.

When people sign up for your ecourse instead of emailing them the content, send them to the website address where the content is. The key to this is putting your Google Adsense ads before the content.

By using this technique you are not only building a subscriber list, but you’ll also profit from people who click on your Google Adsense ads when visiting to read your ecourse.

In the future I will be writing more articles on how to profit with Google Adsense without having to use any SEO techniques. By using the techniques above, you are working smarter and not harder, and that’s really the key to making money with Google Adsense.

Most power plants in the United States and all over world are using fossil fuels to operate and generate electricity. They have been used as an energy source as long as man has learned to generate power. These traditional fuel sources have been around for ages and when man started using this energy sources no one though about the consequences. Fossil fuels will eventually run out and there will be a shortage of it in near future. This shortage in will have its affect on our daily live and various industries. Today we see some of these affects already, prizes are raising and electricity is becoming more expensive. Although these fuels are more scares, the need will still be here and will not decrease in near future. To solve this shortage we will need to look for other possibilities for our energy demand.

Fortunately, alternative energy sources are growing in interest. For instance, locations with high water falls are experimenting on building a hydro-electric power plant, which turns out to be successful. Other locations with high wind speed make use of a power wind mills that can convert wind power into electricity. Also thermal and tidal powers are good alternatives.

Solar energy is also one of the energy sources that is gaining in interest. This form of energy has steadily been growing. Today it is widely used in the US and other parts of the world and the advantages are numerous. Our solar energy source, the sun, its life span is estimated to be another 4.5 billion years. It is fair to say that this energy source is almost endless.

Rate of Energy from the Sun

The sun’s radiation reaches a certain unit of area in space in the region of the Earth’s orbit and is estimated to be at 1,400 watts per square meter. Out of this, photovoltaic cells (also known as solar cells) can capture 19 to 56 watts per square meter (for 15% efficiency) or an equivalent of 0.45 to 1.35 kilowatt per hour (kWh) in an annual day and night average.

Therefore, if there would be more area that will be covered by several solar panels, these panels can produce slightly more energy in the form of electricity than what is currently available from oil, gas, and other sources of energy combined (assuming 8% solar cell efficiency).

Conversion of Solar Energy

There are two ways of conversion of solar energy. First is the direct solar energy which involves only one conversion into a usable form. For instance:

*Sunlight hits the solar cell, converting it into electricity.
*Sunlight hits the absorber surface of a solar thermal collector, converting into thermal energy which can be used to heat homes during cold season.

The second is the indirect solar energy which involves more than one conversion to reach a usable form. For instance:

*Plants use photosynthesis to transform solar energy to chemical energy, which can be burned later as fuel to generate electricity (also known as bio-fuel technology).

*Hydro-electric dams and wind turbines are indirectly supplied by solar energy through its interaction with the Earth’s atmosphere.

Pros and Cons of Solar Energy

Just like any other types of energy resources, this energy source has its pro’s and cons.

Pros:

*Pollution-free.
*Solar facilities can be run with little extra input or maintenance.
*It is abundant. As mentioned earlier, most of the inhabited areas here on Earth can be reached by sunlight.

Cons:

*Although it is abundant, some areas receive little sunlight. Thus, power that will be produced in these locations is a minimum.
*Only available during daytime, thus a need to conserve to energy for use in night time.
*Photovoltaic cell technologies generate direct current (DC) power which needs to be converted to alternating current (AC) power used in distribution grids.

Once massive development of the use of solar energy is materialized, expect that every household or industry in the world will now be powered by solar energy. It is not just a dream, it will be a dream come true.

There are many ways to market your business on the Internet, and using search engine optimized articles has to be one of the “keeper” strategies for getting pre-qualified ‘natural’ search engine traffic to your web site.

Now, I’m sure you’ve heard all this before, “people search the Internet looking to information (aka articles) on how to solve a particular problem”. People just don’t search the web to buy your ‘stuff’!

If you truly understand this search “path” then you understand the meat and potatoes of how the web works, it’s an information resource for people.

To completely understand the above concept ‘follow the money’. Search engines need content to be able to rank web sites, so that they continually get searchers BACK to their engines. The more searchers they have searching for relevant content on a search engine means more revenue for that search engine (e.g. the success of Google adsense).

This is why blogs and RSS have become the “buzz”. Blogs and RSS make the content (copy, words) “fluid”… meaning that the content changes often. This means that the search engine bots love these technologies, visit more often, and then rank the content well (if the blog articles are keyword optimized).

To see how this works go to any news site. News sites have a volume of ever-changing content. For example CNN gets spidered (visited) by the Googlebot something like 28,0000 times a day.

Why? Because of CNN’s ever changing content, and I guess the ‘bots’ are ‘lazy’? They go to where the good, and changing content is more often.

The SEO aspect of article writing.

Think of SEO as “filing”. What I mean by this is that good search engine optimization strategies help the search engine to “file” your content appropriately. Good keyword analysis gives you the information to enable the search engine bot with the ‘right’ filing.

There are no smoke and mirror tactics here. Your Mother was right when she told you that ‘telling the truth is always better in the long run’. This principle especially applies to good SEO practice.

Now, how do we take this concept of “fluid”, search engine optimized content and turn it into a Links IN bonanza for your own web site (thus sending your rankings through the roof over time, so to speak)?

These are the core principles…

1. Ensure that the link for your article is on a web page hosted on a unique IP address.

2. Ensure that the link for your article is on a web page that has a unique, wholly independent set of backlinks.

3. Ensure that the link is on a web page that is at least loosely relevant to the topic of your own web site.

You see, it’s not just a matter of having your articles on just any article directory. Your articles need to be in a category (and preferably a specialist directory) that is within “theme’. In other words you would never post your article on ‘looking after your cattle dog” on a directory that was focused on Financial Management.

In addition to placing your articles on article directories one can also run your articles on press release service sites, and of course there are RSS strategies (but that’s a whole other story, and another article).
